Text Box: Reunion News

The classes of 1970 and 1971 are planning a reunion to be held on May 1, 2010.  We are meeting at the Street Dance in the Square in downtown Orangeburg. Look for our table and get a nametag so that your classmates can recognize you. This is a free event being held in conjunction with the Festival of  Roses, which is being held over that week-end. In the event of bad weather, the dance will be held in the Cattle Barn at the Orangeburg Fairgrounds. Both classes are encouraged to attend.

We are having individual barbecues on May 1. The class of 1970 will have theirs at Camp Anderson in Orangeburg. The class of 1971 will have theirs at Antley’s Barbecue at 1370 Sims Street from 11—2 on Sat. You will pay for your own meal there.

That night, both classes are meeting at The Garden Room at the old Orangeburg Mall for a band, heavy hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. The cost is $25.00 per person if paid anytime through March 15, 2010. After March 15, the cost will be $30 per person. Please fill out the information form page and submit it if you have changed any of your contact information since the 2000 reunion and have not been contacted by your class.

The Orangeburg High School Class of 1971 had its 25-year reunion on November 29, 1996, and it was a huge success. At mid-day, classmates & families gathered at Dukes Barbecue for an informal meal. The evening event was held at the Orangeburg Arts Center. Approximately 155 people were present. Eight states were represented at the reunion: SC, NC, TN, FL, TX, GA, IN, AL. The reunion was dedicated to the memory of our deceased classmates.

The joint reunion for the OHS Classes of 1969, 1970 & 1971 was held November 25, 2000, at the Edisto Shrine Club and was a huge success!!! The food was great, band (The Swingin’ Medallions) was great, and we had a blast. There were around 370 people present. Our class was represented by 11 states including Hawaii (Carroll Grafton Gerow came from there.).

The daytime event was a barbecue. Each class had a separate get-together. We viewed lots of memorabilia, sang the Alma Mater, ate and really enjoyed the time together.
